A day of self-care for Kaye to take a break from the group home
Kaye, 17 years old, PA | 23 DAYS WAITING

Salvation Army Children's Services: Foster Care & AdoptionKaye has gone through unimaginable losses in recent years and has had to move to an unfamiliar city far from home, surrounded by unfamiliar faces. Given her experiences, Kaye guards her heart and is hesitant to establish new connections in a place that doesn't yet feel like home. Amongst all the uncertainty in her life, one thing is certain for Kaye- she wants to get a job while completing her high school education, learn to drive, and pursue a career path that she can be proud of!
A manicure and pedicure experience for Kaye, who is currently living in a group home after being placed in a new town far from the community she has always known, would provide a meaningful opportunity for self-care. Adjusting to a new environment has been difficult, and she often shares that this place does not yet feel like home. A visit to a salon that reflects the culture and atmosphere she grew up with would offer more than just a beauty service. It would give her a chance to relax, build confidence, and feel connected to familiar cultural experiences that are important to her identity and well-being. Being in a space where she feels understood and welcomed could help reduce feelings of isolation during this transition. This wish would allow her to enjoy a special day focused on herself while reconnecting with a sense of comfort and belonging that she deeply misses. A manicure and pedicure at this salon would be a restorative experience that supports both her emotional well-being and self-esteem.
