Blake has had to overcome many obstacles in his life — challenges that were beyond his control and that continue to affect him daily. Blake was born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and was the victim of a Traumatic Brain Injury during infancy, which ultimately led him into the foster care system. Although Blake continues to face many struggles, with the love and support of his adoptive parents, he has made significant improvements in his health, education, socialization, and willingness to engage and participate in activities with others.

Blake was born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) and has been diagnosed with a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). He has also faced mental health challenges that make everyday tasks more difficult for him. Because of these conditions, he can struggle with coordination, balance, impulse control, judgment, and overall physical control. Even with these challenges, Blake is an active and determined young boy. He enjoys camping, fishing, and playing sports. He understands the basics of many sports and has been part of several teams, but he sometimes becomes anxious about making mistakes or letting others down, which can cause him to step back from group activities. Blake does better in one-on-one activities, like tossing a football or baseball. He has recently shown interest in learning golf, and he really wants to learn how to ride a bike. A Guardian bicycle with added safety features, including the SureStop braking system, would help support Blake’s needs. These safety features would give him more control and help reduce the risk of falls or injuries as he learns. A bike like this would allow him to ride more safely while building confidence, independence, balance, and strength. Riding a bike would also support Blake’s development by improving his coordination, motor skills, and endurance. It would give him a healthy way to get outside, stay active, and feel more regulated emotionally. Time spent riding could also help him focus, reduce frustration, and enjoy positive experiences with family and peers. For Blake, a bicycle would be more than just something fun to ride. It would be a meaningful tool that helps him grow, build confidence, and experience an important part of childhood in a safe and supportive way.
