Overdue vehicle registration for Angela who is trying to build up her new business
Angela, 40 years old, CA

PivotalAngela entered foster care at a young age after her mother was unable to protect her from abuse by a family member. Following her removal from home, she spent time in foster care and shelters before being placed with a relative. Unfortunately, that placement was also unstable and abusive. Throughout her childhood and adolescence, Angela experienced multiple placements, including foster homes and group homes, and struggled to find the stability, safety, and support that many children rely on. Growing up in foster care made it difficult for her to find stability and establish a strong foundation for adulthood, but she has never let that stop her. With a bold, independent spirit and unwavering dedication to her son, who is on the autism spectrum, Angela has pushed through every obstacle to reach her current position. Angela has built a career in case management and hopes to return to this field once her son begins preschool. Creative, intelligent, and resourceful, she enjoys shopping, sharing her story, and doing whatever it takes to support her family and achieve her dreams.
Angela is a devoted mother who has spent years building a life centered around her son. After losing her job several years ago, she made the intentional decision to focus on raising him and providing the stability and support she wished she had growing up. When her son was diagnosed with Autism, Angela became his strongest advocate, ensuring he is supported, included, and celebrated for who he is. As he grew older, she began seeking ways to return to the workforce, especially in case management, where she has prior experience. After many applications and interviews without success, Angela chose to create her own opportunity. Since October 2025, she has been building a Dirty Soda business from the ground up. What began as an idea has grown into a small but promising business that is helping her work toward financial stability for her family. She has also built a strong partnership with a local high school that has invited her to be a primary vendor for athletic events throughout the year, providing a steady opportunity for growth. Angela is now requesting support to help cover her overdue vehicle registration, which now includes accumulated fees and penalties. The registration became overdue in February 2026 during a period of significant financial hardship, when she was focused on meeting her family’s basic needs. During this time, her son’s father was also temporarily unable to contribute financially due to a work-related injury. Her vehicle is essential to both her daily responsibilities and her business, allowing her to transport inventory, equipment, and supplies to events and vending opportunities. Without reliable access to her vehicle, the business she has worked so hard to build is at risk. This support would allow Angela to bring her registration current, protect a critical tool for her growing business, and continue building a stable and independent future for herself and her son. She is committed to keeping her vehicle registration current moving forward and has been actively building her business income to include annual vehicle expenses as part of her regular budget.
