Building Resilience Together

Josiah entered foster care at the age of 4, having already been involved with the child welfare system since he was just 1. His childhood was marked by significant loss and instability, with the passing of his mother when he was 9 and his father when he turned 18. After aging out of California's foster care system, he moved to Mississippi, where he faced numerous challenges navigating adulthood without a support system. Between the ages of 18 and 24, he experienced periods of incarceration and struggled to find stability. On his 24th birthday, a serious car accident left him with significant injuries, including a metal rod being placed in his left humerus. Despite lacking connections with his biological family or former foster placements, Josiah remains determined to rebuild his life and create opportunities for long-term success and independence.

Josiah is currently experiencing homelessness and living in his vehicle while working toward securing stable, long-term housing. Having reliable access to power is essential as he navigates this challenging transition and works toward independence. A portable battery charger/power station would allow Josiah to keep his cell phone powered for work, communication, and access to important resources and emergency contacts. This essential tool would provide him with a greater sense of security and stability while he continues taking steps toward finding permanent housing and building a more secure future.
