Journae is an incredibly kind, compassionate, and intelligent young woman who has overcome many challenges with remarkable resilience. Despite facing significant hardships throughout her life, she has persevered largely on her own. In pursuit of a safer, more stable future, she made the courageous decision to relocate from Northern California to San Diego to leave behind an unsafe family environment. Since then, Journae has made tremendous progress. She recently moved into a transitional housing program, successfully completed her high school education through an online program, and is actively seeking employment. She is also committed to improving her mental health and is intentionally focusing on her personal growth, healing, and building a positive future for herself.

Journae is working hard to make her new apartment a comfortable and safe place to call home as she begins this new chapter of independence. While she is incredibly grateful to have stable housing, she is still in the process of obtaining many of the basic household items needed to make her space comfortable. With temperatures reaching the high 90's this summer and the humidity making the heat even more difficult, Journae's bedroom has become especially uncomfortable. An air conditioner would provide much-needed relief, allowing her to sleep more comfortably at night and stay cool while studying, applying for jobs, and spending time at home. Having a cool, comfortable environment is especially important as she continues to focus on her mental health and well-being and to build a positive future for herself.
