A warm coat for Cora to feel confident and comfortable
Cora, 10 years old, OR
Wish submitted by:
Impact NWCora is a sweet and resilient girl who is getting used to stability after nine years of homelessness. Neurodiversities combined with the frequent moves and lack of a consistent environment have made things like reading difficult, but Cora continues to persevere. She lost her father within the past year, has limited contact with her mother, and is learning to trust again while living with her maternal grandmother. Cora's grandmother is so incredibly proud of her progress and her positive attitude despite her rough start.
Cora is still getting used to having clothing that actually fits her as in the past she would wear her mother's old clothes. On a recent school camping trip, Cora was nervous about bringing her coat because she knew it fit too tightly and was feeling self-conscious. As she prepares for the new school year, Cora wishes for a coat that fits and that will keep her warm on her morning walks. A warm coat will also be incredibly handy later this year when she goes to visit the parents of her recently deceased father for some much-needed family connection. They live in a colder climate than she is used to and having a warm coat will allow her to focus on being with her family instead of worrying about comfort.
