Day is a fighter and a resilient young man who hopes to make something of himself one day. He is a survivor of domestic violence and is currently in foster care. Despite having a learning disability, he is doing everything he can to maintain his grades in school. One of the hardest challenges he has faced is the separation from his younger sister. The two of them were very close, but they had to be separated in order to find appropriate placements. Despite all the difficulties he has endured, Day strives to keep a positive attitude. He aspires to attend college and study engineering. He truly believes that, in the future, he will look back and see that everything he has gone through was necessary for him to achieve his destiny.

Day’s birthday is fast approaching, and he is really excited! He hopes this will be the year he overcomes obstacles, grows stronger, and becomes the person he knows he can be. For his birthday, Day would love the special experience of going into a store and picking out a pair of nice shoes for himself—shoes he can proudly wear to school, church, and special occasions. Having a new pair of shoes that he chose for himself would make Day feel like a million bucks and give him an extra boost of confidence as he steps into this new chapter of his life.
