Bill is a devoted father whose greatest priority has always been providing a safe, stable, and loving environment for his son, Bill Jr. Through determination, resilience, and a positive outlook, he continues to work toward creating lasting stability for his son. Bill enjoys spending quality time outdoors, fishing, attending community events, and teaching Bill Jr. valuable life skills. He is known for his kind heart, strong work ethic, and willingness to support others, even during difficult times. Bill has experienced tremendous hardship following the passing of his fiancée last year. As he grieved the loss of his partner, he also faced the loss of his home and, shortly afterward, his job because he no longer had reliable childcare for his son, Bill Jr. Since then, the two have been doing everything they can to stay together, moving from couch to couch, staying in hotels when they can afford it, and, at times, sleeping in their car when their monthly funds run out. Bill receives $1,300 per month in survivor benefits, but those funds are quickly exhausted after paying for his car payment, insurance, food, and other basic necessities. He sought assistance through the Board of Social Services but was denied because his survivor benefits placed him over the eligibility guidelines, despite his ongoing housing instability. A four-day hotel stay would provide Bill and Bill Jr. with a safe place to sleep while community partners continue working to secure longer-term housing and additional resources for the family. This wish would offer them immediate stability, relief, and hope during an incredibly difficult chapter, ensuring they have a secure place to stay as we continue reaching out to other sources of assistance on their behalf.
