Maya is a young adolescent who struggles with anxiety and depression, stemming from a traumatic childhood. As a result, she faces challenges with self-esteem, social isolation, and personal hygiene. Currently in the 10th grade, Maya often comes to school looking disheveled, which unfortunately makes her a target for bullying among her peers. Standing out due to her size, she typically wears t-shirts and men's shorts or pants. Additionally, her family is on a fixed income with only one income provider, making it difficult for them to purchase new clothing.

Maya is eager to start the new school year with a fresh wardrobe. Over the years, she's faced bullying that has taken a toll on her self-esteem, making this opportunity even more important to her. She dreams of having new clothes that she can call her own, rather than relying on hand-me-downs from older relatives. Currently, much of her clothing is either too small or heavily stained, and she longs for a chance to express herself through new styles that reflect her personality.
