KC has been in foster care since she was six, experiencing constant upheaval and a lack of parental support. This instability made it difficult for her to feel a sense of belonging and to trust others. Despite these challenges, KC has developed strengths such as independence, hard work, understanding, and determination. She knows how to persevere through tough times because giving up has never been an option for her. KC still struggles with trusting people, asking for help, and believing she deserves good things due to her past experiences in toxic environments. KC is excited to go to college but also faces fear and uncertainty because she lacks the support and resources many of her peers have.

KC urgently needs a computer for college. A reliable device is essential for completing assignments, writing papers, conducting research, communicating with professors, and accessing online classes. Without it, she worries she will struggle from the start. Unfortunately, KC cannot afford to buy a computer herself, which is why she is asking for help. She understands many students are in need, and it's difficult for her to request assistance. For most of her life, she has made do with limited resources and avoided asking others for support. However, with a computer, she could focus on her studies instead of worrying about how to complete her work. Having faced significant challenges, KC is determined not to let her circumstances prevent her from being the first in her family to attend college.
