Shawn was placed into foster care after being missing for over six months. He left the home he was living in due to physical and emotional abuse. Shawn loves playing sports and hopes to attend UCLA one day to play basketball. Initially, he was hesitant about entering foster care because he was afraid of being placed in a home with strangers. However, Shawn has settled down and formed a connection with his foster parent. He is back in school and is working hard to catch up on his grades.

Shawn recently moved and started at a brand-new school. Shawn is in 11th grade and was upset about having to change schools, but he's trying hard to make the best of it. He wants to try out for the Track & Field Team and the Swim Team. Shawn works part-time at the local mall and is also adjusting to his new foster home. Shawn asked for a new pair of shoes for school because he has outgrown his favorite basketball shoes. Shawn was reluctant to ask for the shoes because he said he hardly gets anything he asks for. Providing these shoes for Shawn will not only boost his spirits but also show him that it is okay to ask for support when he needs it.
