Emmanuel is a non-minor dependent foster youth preparing to emancipate this December. He dreams of becoming an artist but has been struggling with his self-image and is working to build his confidence and belief in himself. As he prepares for this next chapter, Emmanuel is also concerned about finding stable housing, as he does not have a support system outside of the services available to him. Despite these challenges, he is determined to build a future where he can pursue his creativity, grow his confidence, and become independent.

Emmanuel was denied CalFresh benefits this month because the Department of Public Social Services believed he was still employed and receiving income. Emmanuel lost his job in August and has since updated his local DPSS office with his current circumstances. However, his benefits will not be available until the first week of October. In the meantime, Emmanuel has run out of groceries and needs one-time assistance to purchase food from his local Target. This support would help ensure he has enough groceries to get through the next few weeks until his benefits are restored.
