Derrick has spent most of his life in foster care and has faced significant change and uncertainty. This year alone, he has experienced four placements and moved to another city, making stability and maintaining important relationships difficult. His grandmother remains a major source of love and connection, though her health prevents her from caring for him. Despite these challenges, Derrick continues adapting and cherishing the relationships that matter most. As he remains in foster care, meaningful connections and opportunities to feel supported are especially important to him.

Derrick loves playing sports, especially basketball, which gives him joy, confidence, and a sense of normalcy. He recently outgrew his only pair of basketball sneakers but continues squeezing into them so he can keep playing. New properly fitting sneakers would allow Derrick to play comfortably and safely while supporting an activity that provides a positive outlet during a time of significant change.
