Jaylaa was placed in foster care in October of 2025 following her removal after being a victim of abuse by her stepfather. Jaylaa has been separated from her siblings her entire time in foster care. Jaylaa enjoys art and expresses herself through her artwork, clothing, makeup, and music. Jaylaa is a talented, personable teenager with many meaningful relationships. Jaylaa is reliant on her artwork as a therapeutic outlet.

Jaylaa recently transitioned out of her last foster home to a triage home and is there until a long-term placement is found. During this transition, Jaylaa’s cultural medicine bag and some of her makeup were damaged. Jaylaa’s medicine bag is irreplaceable because it is a cultural item, but she hopes some makeup items can be replaced to help her feel more normal. Some makeup was busted, leaking onto other items and ruining them as well. Since Jaylaa expresses herself through makeup, she was very sad that so many things were damaged.
