Luna twirls before she walks into any room, and she’ll dance to anything with a beat. She loves being outside more than anything, chasing butterflies, collecting leaves, and running barefoot through the grass whenever she can. Luna’s mom is a young woman who is still in foster care herself, a teenager who became a parent while still navigating a system that hasn’t always given her a stable place to land. Together, they’ve faced the housing instability and uncertainty that come from a mother trying to raise her daughter while still being raised herself, working toward a safe place of their own with limited family support. Luna is a joyful, affectionate little girl who has no idea how hard her mom is fighting for her, and her mom would do anything to give her a childhood full of laughter and security.

Luna’s mom is still in foster care herself, and she is doing all she can to give her daughter a life full of laughter and security. Some of their most meaningful moments happen in the simplest places, like standing side by side in the kitchen while Luna “helps” and her mom shows her how to stir, scoop, and pour. A set of child-safe kitchen tools would let Luna join in in a proud, hands-on way. It would build her confidence and independence and let her practice new skills, like measuring and mixing. It would also turn everyday meals into moments of connection, helping her mom build a warm, routine-filled home for her daughter.
