Quincy came into foster care in February 2026 along with his two older siblings when his mother was using illegal drugs and his mother’s boyfriend was accused of sexually abusing his older sister. Quincy was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy and has lost the use of his legs over the course of 2026. During this ordeal, he has maintained a positive attitude. His teachers, fellow students, and many others have commented on how friendly he is. Recently, Quipuha started playing wheelchair basketball. It has been very helpful for him to be around other people who are confined to wheelchairs. He is the only person in a wheelchair in the school he attends, so wheelchair basketball helps him feel less isolated.

Quincy has lost the use of his legs to muscular dystrophy, and he has met it with a smile that his teachers and classmates talk about. He came into foster care with his two older siblings after serious concerns at home, and this holiday season he is hoping for a new folding wheelchair. The chair he was given is old and cumbersome; the back is unstable, and the brakes sometimes do not hold. His caregiver has not been able to get it repaired or replaced, and it is so uncomfortable that it limits his day. Quincy wants to spend as much time as he can with his friends, and he does not want his chair to hold him back. He is the only student in a wheelchair at his school, and he recently found a wheelchair basketball team, where being around others who use chairs makes him feel less alone. A safe, comfortable folding chair that works for him would let him move through school, play, and friendships with confidence. It would be a steady piece of support for a boy who keeps showing up with a positive attitude.
