A trip to Dave & Buster’s for Gael who has missed out on arcade outings and birthday celebrations because they’re too expensive

The Friends of Foster CareGael keeps a list on his phone titled “Birthday Someday,” filled with things he’s seen other kids enjoy: arcade parties, a group of friends, game tokens, and a cake with his name on it. Each year, he hopes that maybe next time will be different. Having entered foster care at a young age, Gael now lives with loving relatives who are striving to provide a stable home. However, finances are tight, and fun extras often take a back seat. When classmates invite him to arcade parties, he declines, saying he’s busy, even though it hurts him inside. A cheerful and good-natured kid, Gael is always the first to support his friends. He diligently studies arcade game videos, learning tricks and strategies he longs to put into practice. He dreams of becoming an arcade technician one day, ensuring the machines run smoothly for kids looking for fun.
Gael would love the opportunity to experience the excitement and fun of a trip to Dave & Buster's. Like many young people, Gael wants opportunities to enjoy typical childhood and adolescent experiences, make memories, and participate in fun outings with friends and peers. Unfortunately, arcade visits and birthday celebrations have often been out of reach because of the financial costs associated with these activities. A trip to Dave & Buster's would give Gael the chance to enjoy an experience that he has missed out on and participate in activities that many of his peers may take for granted.
