DJ is an outgoing and fun young man who is always open to new experiences and outdoor activities. DJ was removed from his home due to domestic violence and placed with his grandfather. DJ lived with his grandfather who had many animals, including horses, goats and dogs. DJ absolutely loves animals and likes to talk about the animals that he had when living with his grandfather. Tragically DJ's grandfather passed away and he came back into foster care. DJ was devastated and struggled with how to cope with yet another loss. He couldn't express his sadness properly and he became angry. DJ was placed in a group home because of his behavior but since being assigned a CASA he is doing very well. DJ told his CASA Jared that he has never been to the San Diego Zoo and it has always been a wish of his to go and see all the animals. His CASA Jared told DJ that if he did well in his group home and in school that he would see what he could do. Since then, DJ has done an exceptional job in school and his placement and is hoping that his dream of going to the zoo can come true.
