New pants for Mary whose clothes are old and worn

Posted Mar 13, 2018
Mary lives in a residential facility, which leaves her in a tough spot when it comes to clothing and personal needs. The DCS feels clothing should be covered by the facility, but the facility feels this need should be addressed by the Department. Unfortunately, this leaves Mary with ill-fitting and worn clothes and no one willing to foot the bill. Mary would very much like to have a new pair of jeans that are stylish and fit her well. She would also enjoy a trip out of the facility to Target, where she could try on jeans to find the perfect pair.

Mary is 23 years old and lives in IN

Mary and her siblings were removed from their birth parents' care almost a decade ago. Though she is the oldest, she has struggled the most in foster care. While her siblings have been or are in the process of being adopted, Mary's often extreme behaviors have led to countless placements including acute stays and residential treatment programs. Mary spends a lot of time at her current facility reading and writing, and has even started something of a lending library with other residents using books from her personal collection. She has more books than anyone else in her unit, but has so many more books that she wants to read.
