Maury is a young man who has had to grow up faster than his years. He has had to take care of his younger siblings and become the head of the household without really desiring to be. His favorite subject in school is math and is doing well in his other classes as well. His favorite sports are basketball and football and he likes to indulge in technology. Maurice has a passion for basketball and karate. He has attended karate classes in the past, and he says he enjoyed them tremendously and it taught him a lot about discipline. He now wants to follow his passion for basketball and being a part of a team.

Maurice lacks confidence and is not sure of himself. Initially, he was a little hesitant about the classes and wasn't sure he could perform what was being asked. But with a lot of encouragement from his Dojo and foster mom, he continues to gain confidence and demonstrates that he enjoys the challenge. Maurice attends classes at least 2 to 3 times per week which include exercises and movements that encourage him to be more disciplined. He is a very quiet child and does not talk very much, but since his involvement with Karate, he appears to be more open and comfortable. Unfortunately classes are becoming more expensive and are not fitting well into the family budget. Maurice would love to continue going to class to ensure his confidence is right where it needs to be!
