BIRTHDAY WISH

A plane ticket to help Latoya visit friends for her birthday

Posted Oct 17, 2018
Latoya is in her final year of school and preparing her applications for a Masters degree in Social Work. She is a wonderful member of the foster care community who often volunteers to mentor and educate younger foster youth about the power of higher education. Latoya has many leadership roles on campus, including in our African Student Programs, yet somehow manages to balance all that with a very heavy work schedule to pay her bills. As her December birthday approaches, Latoya is very much hoping to take a few days off to spend time with friends in Florida. Of course, that is quite far from her home here in California and so she is hoping for a travel gift certificate to help her afford her flight to spend her birthday with friends.

Latoya is 28 years old and lives in CA

Latoya is a hard worker who enjoys helping others. She is always willing to listen to her peers when they are in need of advice and guidance. She is on the board of the Black student Union at her university. Latoya is also very involved in the black community on campus. She enjoys volunteering and is committed to service .

"Hi Latoya. I just wanted to let you know how proud I am of your accomplishments. I wanted you to know that I spent 18 years in foster care and I can relate to how things can be. I admire you, respect you for making things happen to better yourself. I really want you to know that people do care. Well done young lady."
