Trudy has been moved 10 times since she was removed from her parents. Now she is in a wonderful foster home where she feels encouraged and motivated to make the best of herself. Trudy seeks to as she describes it - not feel "stupid" any more in school. When a child is moved to a different school studies indicate that they lose 6 months of education with every move. Trudy last tested in the bottom 2 percent of her age group in her latest state wide testing. She was evaluated by Huntington's tutoring recently and they have a plan to get her on grade level. She needs to have funds to continue to be tutored for 4 hours a week for as long as possible. She has already advanced from reading at 5th grade level to 6th grade level and the hope is to be able to get her to 8th grade level before she goes to high school. This in turn will improve her math too because reading and comprehension are essential for math.
