Kaden says, " For most of my life I have been bounced around. I haven't really had a place to call home. I was never really wanted. What started to help me was photography. I was able to escape my life for a little bit to capture the beauty that surrounded me. I've had to use others cameras which has been hard. I would really like a camera of my own so I don't have to use someone else's." Kaden has been learning about photography through his residential treatment facility. This has given him the ability to process his past and begin healing through photography.
Kaden is 20 years old and lives in WI
Kaden has been in and out of foster care for much of his life. He has been placed in a residential treatment facility for the last 18 months. He has struggled with creating positive relationships with care providers and others because he cannot trust that they will not leave him, which has been his experience. Kaden has grown so much emotionally in the last year to the point where he is finally able to begin attending public school. He has discovered a love of photography and art. He finds he can express his emotions and he has a voice in photography. Kaden has learned the skills and knowledge of creating beautiful art through photography at his residential treatment facility. He has found an outlet for the pain and disconnection he has experienced for years. Kaden is hopeful to be transitioning back to the community this fall, He has aspirations of becoming a graphic designer utilizing his photography skills. He plans to complete high school and attend post secondary education so he can reach his goals.

"This is Kaden; thank you very much for being able to fulfill my wish of a camera. You are amazing, and I appreciate your generosity very much. With this camera I have already been able to fill a part of me that has been missing for awhile. When I was young, my parents never really supported me with anything. After I learned how to do photography, a little bit of that missing chunk returned. Every time I turn on the camera, I am able to disappear into the world around me. For a brief moment my problems just vanish, and I am able to appreciate the world as it is; life as it is. Not only have you helped me heal, you have opened up so many opportunities for me. You have changed a big part of my life, and impacted it in a great way. And for that I thank you."
