Alyssa came into care when she was 6 years old. Sadly, she was extremely neglected her first six years of life and was rushed in for immediate surgery after being removed from her home. Alyssa has a rare disease that causes her to be classified as a little person. Her infliction causes her bones to fuse together if not treated correctly. When Alyssa was found, she had no use of her arms and legs. Her spine had curved so much it had paralyzed her. Through surgery she now has use of her limbs but can not walk yet. To make things worse, she now has to learn to eat and talk after half of her vocal cords were paralyzed. Although she is progressing she has a long way to go. Although her fingers are deformed, she is learning to use a keyboard and finds great joy in learning and becoming independent. The sky's the limit for Alyssa, who is one determined little girl with a fierce spirit and the kindest soul!
