Franklin has been diagnosed with severe plagiocephaly/brachycephaly, also known as flat head syndrome. This is caused by prolonged pressure on the baby’s skull in utero or soon after birth, causing an asymmetric and/or wide head shape. Franklin lives with his grandparents, and they have worked diligently with repositioning him, however at this age his head shape will not naturally correct without intervention of a cranial orthotic. His medical team has recommended Franklin for a specific cranial helmet because there is a small window of time in which an infant’s head shape can be corrected effectively. Unfortunately, this orthotic is not covered by insurance, and Franklin's grandparents are on a limited income. They are devastated they can't afford it, and have come to One Simple Wish for help. It is urgent he start treatment with this orthotic to achieve the best outcome and reduce his treatment time.
