Nia is a brilliant youth who is working towards her goals. She is outspoken and a good advocate for herself and her peers, especially other youth in foster care. Nia plays basketball and writes poems when time permits. She is goal oriented and working to become financial independent. Nia’s favorite subject is biology and one day she hopes to become a certified Dental Assistant and be a good example for her siblings.

Nia is currently in the process of completing her application for dental assistant school. She has tried to complete the application via her phone, however, the application is 15+ pages and her phone does not have features that will allow her to input all the needed information and add attachments. Nia also meets with her case manager and other support services virtually. Her meetings would be much more productive if she had a laptop that she could use to take employment assessments, create resumes and cover letters, and join zoom meetings. .
