20 year old Thomas spent the last 7 years in foster care and is currently preparing to age out. With his 21st birthday in just 4 days, Thomas has just learned that not only will his state supports end, but his current placement will no longer allow him to stay – resulting in a rather quick turnaround for Thomas to find stability. Thomas identifies as part of the LGBTQ+ community and has had a difficult time fitting in, and without any family or supportive network where he is, he has persevered through an uphill battle to now face yet another challenge. Prior to aging out, Thomas began enlisted the help of his advocate agency and began to dream of what would make him the most happy in life. He described moving away from the town he knew, traveling, and working in hospitality. After looking for positions that would fulfill him –he was offered a full time housekeeping position at Walt Disney World!! Thomas is so excited to start this brand new chapter in his life – living independently (with roommates, of course), working for his own money and getting to enjoy himself and be a kid after 7+ years in the foster system where he was bounced from home to home. This big wish will to get him into an apartment (application fee, deposit, and first month’s rent) as well as a Greyhound ticket to get to Orlando and a small allotment for furniture.
