Stephanie is new to foster care. She is an immigrant from a Central American Country where things were dangerous and difficult for her. She came to America and still faced some of the abuses. When she found out she was pregnant, she was placed in Foster Care, where help is being sought for her in her and her baby's care. She tends to be very scared, doesn't understand much English and is striving to stay healthy but she is also trying to get used to the food that she has available to her. She now has her baby, born in the last month or so. She is learning the basics of parenting and caring for an infant.

Stephanie noted how peaceful a peer's room looked with a lava lamp. She requested one for her room just to help with creating a soothing environment, especially when she is trying to console her son.
