A New Bike for Everett who is very active and loves playing outside

Everett, 17 years old, NC

Mecklenburg County Guardian ad Litem

Everett lives with his young aunt, her husband and their one-year-old child in a kinship foster placement. He just started at a new high school and was upset about being separated from his twin brother, but he has made friends quickly and even went to Homecoming in October. He loves to play games and fix things. He just applied for a job at Chick-Fil-A and is excited to make his own spending money! Everett has struggled academically but after coming into foster care, he was diagnosed with dyslexia, and he has made great progress in his reading by working with a dyslexia specialist! He has a great sense of humor and adds an energy and playfulness to any situation. He is enrolled in a high school program that is preparing him to go to trade school. He hopes to be a mechanic, a welder or a plumber.

In his foster placement, Everett has really enjoyed riding around the neighborhood using the bikes of his foster siblings even though they are too small for him, and he talks a lot about how he would like one of his own. His foster family likes to go for bike rides and they have said they would like to take all the kids to ride on local greenways and on mountain bike trails. Everett also wants to learn how to do tricks on the bike, safely of course! He can't wait to get a bike of his own, and have fun all summer long outside.
