Erick loves playing video games as that is a time for him to speak to his friends in his native language to him. He is wonderful with the family's pets and enjoys caring for them, he loves music, and watching the foster mom cook different things and participating when he is comfortable! Erick has had a very traumatic childhood that has led him to the foster home that he is at currently. Erick was brought over to the states when he was younger, and due to the abuse he received was put into foster care. Erick has been into previous foster homes, but has never stayed for a long period of time. His current foster placement is one of his longest. While in his foster home, Erick has begun to feel comfortable around his foster parents, consultant, school personal and now his therapist. While previously Erick would never have spoken about his history or his emotions, Erick now is coming to understand he is loved and cared for.

Erick came to the United States with no English and has learned English as he has been in the states. Erick has been placed into a school whereas previously he had very little schooling. With this transition, Erick struggles in school as he is missing fundamental basic blocks for his grade level. Erick continues to struggle understanding the material, as he has to have the material explained to him repeatedly and broken down typically word for word. Erick does not currently have a computer in his foster home that he can continue to use for school related questions and to have the information translated for him. This has caused Erick to fall behind in class material, as he is only understanding portions of the material. With the computer, Erick will be able to use it to help translate the material, look up more information and examples. Plus he will have the foster parents help him with the material, as we look further into his educational needs. He will be so excited to unwrap this awesome computer this Christmas.
