Carmello, 19 years old, OR
Carmillo grew up in a kinship placement with his great-aunt after years of instability in various foster care placements. His early childhood was marked by constant change and a deep longing for a sense of home. When he moved in with his great aunt, things began to change for the better; she provided the consistency and understanding he needed. Music became his powerful outlet for expression, allowing him to sing, write, and dance as a way to make sense of the world. Whether jotting down lyrics or dancing in his room, music gives him a sense of freedom and joy. Despite his challenges, Carmillo continues to find strength and beauty through his art. His story highlights the healing that can occur when young people are given the space to express themselves and receive love for who they are.
