Shawn is a remarkably bright young man with a promising future. He has two siblings who are also under the supervision of the Division of Child Protection and Permanency. While Shawn performs well in school, he could achieve even greater success with the support of caring adults who help him and his siblings. He engages with the adults from the Urban League assigned to his family and actively seeks assistance to stay on track with his schoolwork.

Shawn's family is struggling economically to continue living in northern NJ. Even though Shawn is a pre-teen, he has expressed that he wants his family to eat dinner every night as a family, but, the family doesn't have money to budget for this luxury. Shawn says the family eats in different parts of the home right now and he would give anything to have the chance to connect with his family over this beautiful table for meals.
