CASA GA - Coweta County

Jason has been in foster care for a significant amount of time. He has special needs, so he is not able to be placed with his siblings due to their severity. Jason misses them so much! Jason loves Cocomelon and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. He likes to sit on the patio and be outside in the wind.

Jason has special needs, and this tool would make his life easier and provide him independence. This excellent tool has over 100 options to help him communicate. So let's help make Jason's life easier and give him more accessibility to the world around him!

"I would really like to express how grateful I am that you recently granted a wish I had for a six year old Autistic child that I am the CASA for. Since I began this journey in August of this year I have begun to understand what children in foster care go through. For a child without special needs is hard enough, but one with Autism it's even harder. It has been my experience that we have to fight and work harder to get them the tools to help them strive. This little boy stole my heart from the first time I met him. Just looking into his eyes I knew there was more going on in his head than what we were seeing. Unfortunately his biological mother with all her problems just let his special needs go in the foreground.. Thankfully DFCS was able to find him a wonderful foster mother that was willing to put in the time and energy he needed to thrive. Since August we were able to get him tested so we had a better understanding of where he stood on the spectrum. It took a long time and a lot of emails and phone calls but he will finally begin therapy soon. He is in a wonderful school that works very hard to get the most from him. He is nonverbal. My hope after seeing the ABlenet Quictalker FT23 was that he could have a system like his older brother plays with. He is very in tune with his brother's tablet and seems very interested while watching him play. His quicktalker will allow him the opportunity through play to put the word with the picture and maybe try to start saying the words himself. When my supervisor told us about One Special Wish, I made my wish thinking it was a long shot, but never hurts to ask. Upon hearing that my wish was being granted I was so overjoyed that I couldn't help but cry. I have no idea who you are, what you do and why you contribute to this program. But I do know that your heart is in a very special place. By making this purchase you have opened up another avenue to start a very special boy to continue his journey on. I am very grateful for your generous gift. As time goes by and if he begins to say any of the words this system taught him I will think of you and how special you are for allowing this One Special Wish for One Special Boy My Sincere Gratitude Janis "
