Joyce is a very driven, very funny, very passionate, very intelligent young lady. She was adopted at age 10 after living for a couple of years in Uganda. She has been in the US now for a few years and will graduate high school from here. She had a rough life in her early years and is part of an indigenous tribe called the Batwa. She had almost nothing and almost dropped out of school. She worked hard, going from failing grades to As and Bs, and is at the top of her class in in National Honor Society. She has struggled dealing with her past trauma and adapting to life in the US but she has overcome so much. She loves surfing, it has helped her work through her struggles. She loves her friends and dancing and Ugandan/African Music.

Joyce has been using her school-assigned laptop but has plans to graduate early in December. She will be spending some time in Uganda before she starts college. She worries about seeing her family in Africa soon and has been making plans. She wants to spend as much time as she can with them, getting to know them better. She will need a laptop in Africa to do some different projects she will work on and it will helpful when she goes off to college next fall.
