Sakara is a senior in college studying information and data sciences. They have faced adversity throughout their life, experiencing the death of a parent, the incarceration of a parent and foster care. They have been accepted as a scholar in the Give Something Back mentorship and scholarship program and are maintaining a 3.5 GPA. Sakara is passionate about coding and game design and is a great observer. They are a fabulous writer who is using prose and poetry to process some of their trauma.

Sakara will be finishing a summer internship in Boston next month with Generation Teach through AmeriCorps. This was their first plane trip and their first time out of state! They spent the summer teaching students color coding and math. Sakara saved up money for their basic needs while living in Boston, but they could use some assistance purchasing their plane ticket home.
