Sherrell has started her new academic year at SFSU. However, she is no longer eligible for Federal Financial Aid and is now relying solely on external scholarships and loans. The main challenge she's facing is that the school gave her more money than she was eligible for over the past 2 years, so she now owes money to the college. Any scholarship money she receives will be used to pay off this debt before she receives any leftover funds. Right now, Sherrell is struggling to meet her basic needs due to this debt situation. She's asking for support with gas money so she can continue to commute to and from her classes each week. This will ensure that Sherrell doesn't face any additional barriers to receiving her scholarships and loans once the debt is settled, as she'll be in class and able to complete assignments, thus avoiding any negative impact on her GPA and college progress.
