A shopping trip for Joseph who needs some clothes and shoes

Joseph, 16 years old, NC

Wish submitted by:

Mecklenburg County Guardian ad Litem

Joseph has a passion for both baseball and art, particularly drawing. Joseph loves to draw and is very talented. It is therapeutic for him and he loves drawing pictures to gift to others and share his feelings/thoughts. He is very protective of his loved ones and is beginning to enjoy the learning process. Recently, he has been doing well in school, especially in a small, specialized classroom environment. Due to significant developmental delays, he struggles with communication, particularly when it comes to discussing the future. However, he is aware that he wants to earn a lot of money!

Joseph is currently living in a group home, which means that this year, his Christmas will differ quite a bit from the traditional family celebrations he once enjoyed. Understanding his unique situation, he has expressed a desire for a gift card, allowing him the freedom to select items that truly resonate with his personal taste. At this stage in his life, Joseph has outgrown the charm of receiving clothes chosen by others; he prefers to make his own choices. Additionally, due to the specific regulations of his living arrangement, there are limitations on what he is allowed to keep, making a gift card an ideal choice for him to explore and purchase things that he genuinely likes and needs.
