Foster Angels of South TexasBrittany was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) and has lived with a disability her entire life. At the age of 12, she entered foster care after her caregivers were both hospitalized, leaving her and her siblings without a safe home. Her mother was in jail, and her father has never been in her life. Brittany remained in foster care until she turned 18 and aged out of the system.
In 2020, Brittany learned about the SMA Annual Conference and wanted to attend, but since she was still in foster care, Child Protective Services (CPS) would not pay for her conference fees or travel expenses. Now that she is 18, Brittany is is working hard to achieve her dream of attending the conference that she has looked forward to for years. This wish will provide her with the flight needed for her and her travel aide.
