Promises2KidsJonathan spent his early years in foster care until he was 10 years old, when his grandmother and uncle took him in as guardians. Unfortunately, his grandmother passed away while he was a junior in high school, leaving him in the care of his uncle and extended family, who did not show him the same love and support that his grandmother had. After graduating high school, Jonathan decided to buy an RV from Facebook Marketplace to escape the toxic environment at home and live independently. Jonathan does not meet the age requirements for certain foster youth programs, which limits his access to traditional Transitional Housing Programs (THP). He has also been denied entry to transitional age youth homeless programs because he does not meet their criteria for being considered “high need.” Despite these challenges, Jonathan is a full-time college student pursuing a degree in biology and works part-time as a lab assistant. He is a bright and determined young man who works hard to excel in both his studies and job, despite the difficulties posed by his living situation. He often spends hours traveling by bus to get to school and work, using that time to complete school assignments or read research for his job. Jonathan is committed to building a better future for himself.
Jonathan is currently facing some tough challenges with homelessness, which has made it really hard for him to get the basic necessities he needs, like electricity to finish his homework. His case manager is doing everything they can to help him get a spot in a local safe parking program, but without power, it's tough for him to stay on track with his studies. This situation also affects his diet since he can't prepare fresh meals easily. If Jonathan could get a solar-powered generator, it would make a huge difference for him! It would boost his living conditions and really help him focus on his studies. As a third-year college student studying Biology, he has big dreams of becoming a scientist one day. With the support of a generator, he'd be one step closer to reaching his educational goals and creating a brighter future for himself.
