A Sense of HomeLuisa is a passionate student and aspiring Doctor of Physical Therapy who is currently preparing to apply to graduate school this summer. She serves as a Los Angeles County Youth Commissioner, proudly representing the Fifth District, and is actively involved in advocacy through the County’s Subcommittee for Human Trafficking. In addition to her public service, Luisa works as an Exercise Specialist Assistant, where she supports individuals in their physical wellness journeys. Despite facing significant challenges—including the impact of inflation and local wildfires that have reduced her patient hours—Luisa remains resilient, relying on food pantries while continuing to pursue her academic and professional goals. Her deepest motivation stems from a desire to care for her community and to one day have the knowledge, skills, and power to prevent suffering and save lives, especially for those she loves.
Luisa is a resilient student pursuing her Doctorate in Physical Therapy, but she has faced significant challenges in recent months, particularly due to local wildfires that disrupted her work and overall well-being. While taking a microbiology class, she began to feel unwell and decided to examine her water under a microscope. What she discovered raised serious concerns about its quality, leading her to wish for a reliable water filter to protect her health. Despite these setbacks, Luisa remains dedicated to her community and has relied on food pantries to get by. Having a water filter would greatly improve her health and quality of life, ensuring she stays strong, focused, and able to continue her journey toward healing others.
