Sophia entered the foster care system at the age of 16 and has shown incredible resilience and determination ever since. She is majoring in Social Work with the goal of giving back to the very community that once supported her. As the oldest of six siblings, Sophia takes pride in being a role model. Sophia has a deep love for her dog, her boyfriend, and spending time in the kitchen cooking. Beyond her academic goals, she’s excited to branch out and explore new areas of interest, including learning a cosmetology trade and gaining practical everyday skills that will help her thrive as she transitions into full adulthood. Driven, caring, and curious, Sophia is determined to build a bright future for herself and those she loves.

Sophia chose these tools because she’s been learning about car maintenance from her uncle and her boyfriend. For a long time, she didn’t think it was necessary to learn much about her car, since she could always count on them to help. However, after getting into a minor accident, she realized how important it is to have that knowledge for herself. She’s currently learning how to handle basic maintenance tasks like oil changes and brake work. By having her own tools, Sophia hopes to become more independent and less reliant on others for simple repairs and upkeep.
