A hotel stay for Sidisse to connect with her chosen family

Project LemonadeSidisse is majoring in criminology. She graduated from high school one year early while in foster care. Although her years in care were some of the hardest in her life, she wouldn't trade them for anything because of how much she grew as a person. In her free time, Sidisse enjoys reading, making crafts, and riding horses. Being around animals really helps her feel grounded.
Living in the foster care system was incredibly challenging, but one of the most rewarding experiences for Sidisse was the bond she formed with another girl in her group home in Medford. This girl recently became a mother to a beautiful baby named Jovani, and their friendship has blossomed into something that feels more like family. Now about 7 or 8 months old, Jovani is beginning to recognize the people around him, and the thought that he might grow up without knowing Sidisse deeply hurts her. She loves him dearly and longs to be a consistent presence in his life. To help make that connection possible, Sidisse recently bought a car, but the distance means she would need to stay overnight when she visits—ideally for three nights. Support with hotel costs would make it feasible for her to spend meaningful, unhurried time with both her friend and Jovani. Having the chance to be present in Jovani’s life during these formative years means everything to Sidisse, and she is eager to create lasting memories together.. This wish was divided up so that Sidisse can stay for a couple of nights. This is wish 1 of 2. She can't wait to catch up with her favorite people!

"I just want to say a huge thank you for granting my wish for a hotel stay. I entered foster care after my mom decided I wasn’t working out in her family anymore, even though she adopted me as a baby. That was really hard, but one of the best things that’s come out of foster care is the chance to create my own chosen family, people who love me for me. One of those people is a girl I met in a group home, and now she’s like a sister to me. She has a baby, Jovani, who is and he’s just starting to recognize people, and I want more than anything to be someone he knows and feels close to as he grows up. Because of your generosity, I’ll actually be able to spend real, unrushed time with them. It may seem like “just a hotel stay,” but for me, it’s the chance to make memories with people I love deeply. People who remind me that I’m not alone and that family isn’t just who you’re born to, it’s who shows up for you. Knowing I get to be there for Jovani and for my friend during this time in their lives means more than the world to me. Thank you for making this possible and for caring about someone like me. Your kindness gives me hope and reminds me that there are people out there who want to see me stay connected to the people who matter most.
