After spending four years in foster care, Kayla learned the power of perseverance and strong support systems. She is currently studying to become a medical assistant, with long-term goals of graduating, starting her own urgent care, and opening an assisted living facility. While she deeply appreciates the friends who have guided her along the way, she hopes to see more community programs and events for foster youth in the future. In her free time, Kayla enjoys gardening, reading, cooking, line dancing, and spending quality time with loved ones.

As a full time medical student, it is important for Kayla to find ways to manage her stress and still find joy in her day-to-day life. She has always been drawn to gardening, and is hoping to start a vegetable garden of her own. To do so, Kayla is hoping for a set of gardening tools. That way, Kayla can one day share her harvest with the friends and family who have long supported her.
