A security camera to help Kristiona feel safe.
Kristiona, 30 years old, CO
Wish submitted by:
Foster Alumni MentorsKristiona was placed in foster care at the age of two. She was adopted but later bounced around from foster home to foster home at the age of nine. After being returned to foster care, she aged out. Despite facing everyday obstacles and medical issues, Kristiona became independent and started her college journey, which has been successful. She has graduated with her Bachelor's degree and is now looking to continue her education to work with children. Currently, she works as a teacher at an early head start preschool and enjoys every moment of it. Kristiona is committed to breaking the generational cycle of abuse and lack of education. Her ultimate goal is to own and run a summer camp for children in foster care, providing them with not only fun but also therapeutic and mentoring support.
Kristiona needs a security camera to support her continued journey toward healing and independence. Following her therapist’s recommendation, this simple but powerful tool will offer peace of mind by allowing her to see who is at the door without needing to engage directly. While her current housing situation doesn’t allow for a peephole installation, cameras are permitted, and this solution would give Kristiona the ability to confidently manage unexpected visitors, whether it's mail delivery, maintenance, or others. With a quick glance at her phone, she can make informed decisions and stay grounded in moments that once caused distress. This wish is about more than safety; it’s about reclaiming her sense of control and continuing to build a life rooted in strength, awareness, and peace.

"I completely agree with you - having a security camera on my front door gives me such peace of mind! I love being able to see who is at my door without opening the door. And I also like being able to see who is coming and going from my house. I have teenagers so this is super important. Good luck with the new school year!! "
