AcademySTAYTommy is a former foster youth who aged out of care. He lives in stable housing and is studying to be a welder. Tommy struggled with homelessness and managing his coursework without a permanent home. Now that he has stable housing, he can focus on his education. Motivated and goal-oriented, Tommy is working hard to build a future.
Tommy is learning different welding techniques like MIG, TIG, and stick welding at UTI. However, he can’t practice much outside of class because the equipment is limited. To really get good and prepare for his certification, he needs to spend more time using professional-grade tools. This 3-in-1 welding machine would let him practice at home, try out new techniques, and create a portfolio to show potential employers what he can do. It’s a great investment in his skills and the confidence that comes from really knowing his craft.
