Walden Family ServicesYvette is a Latina who is proud of and loves her Mexican culture and people. She was placed in foster care at age 5 and has experienced approximately 8 placement changes over the years. She was born with drugs in her system and has struggled through most of her life with managing her mental health, emotions, and reactivity. She determined she wanted to turn her life around and move in a more positive direction by learning to manage her emotions, process her trauma, and, as a young adult, has successfully enrolled in school and recently secured a part-time job.
Yvette is learning to cook meals from scratch to stay connected with her culture. She loves to make food from scratch and learns from the older family members and community members she has befriended. She would love a baking mixer so she can continue to learn to make pastries, breads, and baked goods, and share them with her friends and community.
