A spinning chair for Anastasia to use when she's dysregulated
Anastasia, 7 years old, OR
Wish submitted by:
Greater Oregon Behavioral Health, IncAnastasia has been diagnosed with autism and is non-verbal. She participates in occupational and speech therapy to support her development. Due to her mother's mental health issues, she is being raised by her grandmother. Anastasia is learning to read to improve her speech skills. Recently, she has begun to engage with other children, which has been a struggle for her in the past. She loves watching programs on her tablet that help her with shapes and numbers, and she enjoys playing with bubbles. Additionally, Anastasia is now starting to socialize more with her two siblings, another area where she has faced challenges before.
Anastasia had a spinning chair that provided her comfort when she felt dysregulated. She would spin on it for hours and carried it with her throughout the house, treating it like an emotional support chair. Since it broke, she has been devastated. When the family had to place the broken chair outside for safety reasons, she had a meltdown. They believe she understands that the chair is broken but does not grasp why she can’t use it anymore. Now, she walks around the house crying for her spinning chair.

"I want to say how thankful and grateful we are for granting Anastasia’s wish. It means so much to her and to us. She absolutely loves her spin toy. It was an amazing joy to see her face when we pulled it out of the box and put it together. She was super excited and right away started spinning on it. Thank you soooo very much. "
