Steven is a loving, smart little boy who has spent most of his life in foster care. He now lives with his stepmother, who is considered kin and is in the process of adopting him. She primarily speaks Spanish and loves Steven deeply. He also lives with his sister, which brings him comfort and stability. Steven has a diagnosis of autism and works very hard every day. Communication and daily routines like getting dressed, getting ready for school, or turning off the TV can be challenging for him, but with patience and support, he continues to grow. Steven loves watching TV, thrives with routine, and is incredibly sweet, gentle, and caring. He previously lived in a therapeutic foster home and is now in a safe, loving environment where he is supported and deeply cared for.

Steven wishes for an AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) tablet to help him communicate his needs, feelings, and thoughts. Steven has a diagnosis of autism and thrives when he has the right tools to support him. When he previously had access to an AAC device at his former school, he excelled and was able to communicate more effectively. Since transitioning to a new school, an AAC device has not been provided due to funding limitations. Without this support, daily routines and transitions can be challenging for Steven. An AAC device would allow him to express himself, reduce frustration, and build confidence at home and school. Steven is very smart, loving, and familiar with using electronic devices. This wish would give him a voice and help him continue to grow, learn, and connect with the world around him.
