Jeremiah's mother has a history of substance abuse and instability. As a result, Jeremiah and his sibling were removed from her care, and their uncle became their legal guardian. However, the uncle eventually relinquished his guardianship because he and Jeremiah were unable to get along, leading to Jeremiah being kicked out of the home. Jeremiah is in extended foster care and is placed with a relative.

Jeremiah is in need of new clothes. Jeremiah has outgrown his clothes. Being able to wear a new outfit on Christmas will boost his self-esteem.
