A new pair of shoes for Jaelyn to feel comfortable in
Jaelyn M, 19 years old, CA | 1 DAY WAITING
Wish submitted by:
CA DCFS - Los Angeles CountyJaelyn has been in foster care since the age of 14 due to general neglect and abuse by both his mother and father. After a few months in care, he was briefly returned to his mother; however, just two days before Christmas, his mother contacted his social worker and asked for him to be picked up. Since that time, Jaelyn has remained in foster care without the stability of a permanent family connection. Throughout his time in care, the only consistent and meaningful relationship in Jaelyn's life has been with his sister. Unfortunately, this connection has been significantly impacted due to his sister's s incarceration, leaving Jaelyn with very limited family support. Despite these challenges, he is actively working toward a better future by participating in Job Corps, where he has received his high school diploma and is gaining job skills, structure, and opportunities to build independence and long-term stability.
Jaelyn is requesting a pair of Jordan shoes because having appropriate and quality footwear would support him in his daily activities and help boost his confidence as he continues participating in Job Corps. As someone working toward independence with limited family support, having durable shoes would help him stay comfortable during training, work- related activities, and long days on his feet. Receiving Jordan shoes would also help Jaelyn feel a sense of normalcy and self-worth, reminding him that he is supported and valued as he continues striving to build a stable and positive future.
